I am not experiencing these problems on the German server s57, nor have I heard anything about them from others.

maybe it's related with server's activity, on s48 30+ players doing layers on hourly basis

Good thing: CoMa Mika acknowledged the issue and they are supposedly working on it.

Bad thing: I reported the issue a month and a half ago when things first went bad.

After that, I updated the ticket when things got even worse... and now, when Ancestral Ruins is almost unplayable unless you're moron as some of us are willing to spend 6 hours on something that should take 1 hour, it doesn't look like this issue is really a priority. As long as we're pouring our hard earned money into this broken crap, it seems like things will keep working as they do...

I mean, a month and a half of broken basic gameplay and still no solution, for ffs...

Server48 UK has been completely f**ed for more than a month.

It can't process players doing layers.

503 errors are rare, but there's about a 30-second lag after every layer, and every second or third layer fails to complete. It often needs to be repeated up to five times.

They couldn't check anymore because the account was deleted.

Don't take this personally, but they are most likely correct and you are wrong. The problem is that you (or we - as players) don't know in what order hellstones are used.

Some are purchased, while others are earned in-game (through events, Easter events, gate openings, etc.) and you could have at some point both.

The hellstones that were left on your account may have been earned in-game and not actually purchased.

S48 UK has become borderline unplayable over the last few days.

When I first reported the issue, it took around 4–5 seconds to process an Ancestral Ruins operation which was way too long. Every now and then, it would be interrupted because of lag and return the player to the starting point, forcing them to enter the units again.

Over the last few days, every second click in Ancestral Ruins takes around 20–30 seconds to process, and every third or fourth operation gets interrupted because of processing lag. Some operations had to be repeated three or four times.

Whenever you enter unit values, you just stare at the screen waiting to see what happens - whether the combat goes through or gets interrupted after 20 seconds of waiting.

This browser game has become slower than most resource-hungry, graphically demanding games.

How's the situation on other servers/communities?

City? Run away from the city...

I don't remember story details anymore, but from the memory it's best to stay in the forest because that's where you can earn the most gold most of the time.

In the city, your health drops the fastest, so always wear war/health gear while doing story missions, since some choices can take away plenty of health.

If the game forces you out of the forest, try to get back there as quickly as possible. There are also wells in the forest and mountains, and you should always choose the first option at the well. Also, pick "full attack" whenever it's available.

Since leveling up seems to be incredibly important to some players, GF could simply offer them the option to purchase levels in the Voodoo Shop. This would make those players happy, save them time, and help balance their real-life and gaming commitments. 🤣

I don't think it's about leveling per se, at least not on the server I'm playing on, but rather about competitiveness and intense battles between two clans of different races that have been going on for 15 years or so.

The bigger and stronger you are, the more you can contribute to the team effort. There's a lot of history, stories, drama, and so on among the players that have built up over the years, so it's completely in line with the spirit of the games.

Well, I told how it was explained from GF years back, not how you wish it to be.

And no, in the EU, banks do not just take or delete your money after one year of inactivity. Accounts may become dormant and fees may apply, but your life savings aren't just wiped out. The money still belongs to you.

In many EU countries, long-term unclaimed funds are eventually transferred to a state-held unclaimed assets fund, not deleted and you can typically still reclaim them later.

I disagree. Thanks to this update, we can balance things a bit for regular players compared to those using bots.

On the contrary. It's more drastic than ever. You can't balance things even against more active players now, let alone against those who already use bots or will start using them over time.

First 10 layers? Peace of cake, I am doing them 30. Well, several of us on my server do…

Go on vacation for 2 weeks, have a busy couple of weeks or something, and when you come back there will be a 500-level difference. In 2 - 3 weeks.

I've been playing since 2009 and with the latest update I see people who have been playing for months and have already done what I did in 10 years, they in 3 months. But I don't care, it's a game and that's fine. Think about having fun, don't always complain. I'm 100% in favor of open plans.

I think some of you don't fully understand the implications and consequences of this update. I'm not sure what to attribute that to - maybe not even to you personally, but rather to the lack of competitiveness on the server you play on.

you can do the first 10 layers in under 5 minutes if you are pressed for time, and get more XP then the story mode.

even if you do this twice a day and grave time in between you lvl up faster then doing the story.

The fact that you can do two rounds of ten is completely insignificant. It's like you would do one level every 10 days before the update.

It's a drop in the ocean compared to what the rest of us do on more active servers.

And if server merges ever happen, while some of us are still actively engaged in wars, you'll remain a forgotten and irrelevant factor somewhere far far behind.

    Why?

Because while you'll spend what you think is a large part of your day doing those five or ten rounds of first ten layers, I'll be doing 12 - 15 rounds on the first ten, 8 rounds on the second ten, and 6 rounds on the third ten. At a minimum. Sometimes more.

And while you struggle and think you've achieved a lot with 100 - 200 levels per month, I'll be doing 800 per month. And this will accumulate.

And when you eventually want to have fun like the "big boys" by participating in wars instead of just being a bystander in some random semi-inactive clan with no one communicating, there won't be a clan willing to take you in.

Because no top clan is going to be interested in accepting every random player who contributes nothing to the clan in terms of wars, while also posing the risk of being a spy account.

You may say that you don't care about all of that, and that's perfectly fine. But since this is a competitive game where players compete, you can probably imagine that some people do care. And that's perfectly fine as well.

No, the update is bad. That's not a complaint - look, I am doing more levels manually than most of you ever will. So in terms of competitiveness, it actually works for me. But I also know how much of one's life you need to invest to stay relevant and compete in this competitive game now. Just as argos posted above, all the beauty of the game is gone.

It's not about wolves and vamps anymore, but about being a robot - sitting behind a PC for 15 hours a day or slipping into oblivion. People are turning into robots. And even some long-term active players are quitting. Because, well, summer is coming, and they aren't ready to sit behind a PC 24/7 just to be able to compete with their long-term opponents.

I don't doubt that, right now, in the short term, the update looks like a jackpot for Gameforge. But I wonder what it will leave in the long term. Because more and more players - and I am talking about active players - are saying, "F**k it, I won't spend my whole life doing this" and go.

And there won't really be many new players - at least not ones willing to spend the same amounts on a web browser game as some of the older players did.

It's around 15:00 server time, and these are the top 25 player results so far from last night's server reset. This is still far from the end of the day.

The most active players will end up gaining around 30 levels today solely. And now imagine the poor players from this same list who competed with us fairly for all those years - even decades - and who, because of their real‑life situation, can only invest a "somewhat normal" amount of gameplay time... enough to make maybe 3 - 4 levels per day.

This update ruined the experience for many players. Those of us who compete are being turned into robots, and those who don't, who can't... simply won't be able to play and compete with us anymore. Most of them will end up saying "goodbye" to this game sooner rather than later.

    what's the point in that?

The legal aspect, if I remember correctly.

People pay for in-game goods with real money, so unless there's a refund to the player's payment for non-used goods (hellstones), account can't just be deleted because the player doesn't feel like clicking stuff in-game anymore or because you're annoyed by their inactivity.

Before I start discussing the topic, let’s get one thing straight: this is not abuse, but legal gameplay that the update itself allowed. Even the official Path to Ancestry: Details & FAQ says:

    Quote

Can I play the various layers multiple times?

Yes, layers can be played multiple times.

Each layer has a cooldown after it has been completed, and units deployed also require time to return home.

So there's not abuse, just gameplay that update offered. And yes ... it sucks. It sucks so badly that it completely ruined game experience for many players.

I posted my views about the update, which haven’t changed since a month and a half ago.

    and

There are around 20 players on my server, 48 UK, including me, who gained more than 500 levels in a month. In fact, I think I gained around 800 lvls last month.

Can you imagine that? Freaking 25-30 levels per day, with no illegal crap involved. People are turning into robots, or they fall behind so badly that it's not even worth bothering anymore. This game is completely f***ed up.

Pumping levels is not good, because you can't track levels with attributes - For example, I'm lvl 800 and my upgrades are at 600+, that's what I'm talking about.

Two or three things on that :)

    1. In clan wars, levels matter. Levels (that is better equipment and better orbs) win wars - with one small caveat. Past level 5400 or so, there isn't much new equipment worth buying. Maybe weapon, but this is it. Endgame. So once players get past that point, level differences don't make much of a difference.
    2. Attributes - Basically the only thing a player works on during their whole BiteFight career... and for what? A few thousand levels more or less means absolutely nothing in PvP. Attributes are so weak, nerfed down in the battle algorithm, compared to other factors like damage, hit chance, etc. It doesn't matter much whether your strength/defense is developed or underdeveloped, as long as you have proper equipment.
    3. And third... just a personal note. My attributes are damn sexy, despite being completely useless :P

Many, many moons ago, when BiteFight was young, maintaining low level actually mattered. If you had an extremely developed account and maintained a low level, you could beat everyone around you. Those players were lowriders. Unbeatable against everyone within their reach.

But now... if you had the luck of being on an active server with great competition, clan wars are the only thing that matters. And in clan wars, players with better equipment and orbs (which usually means higher-level players) will always win and not players with better attributes.

I said the same thing a month and a half ago. I'll just copy and paste it, since my opinion hasn't changed.

Since this last update, I have most likely made over a thousand deletes. There wasn't a single piece worth keeping or putting on the market.

Can a player get at least a bit of gold or something when they get rid of it? Just to at least make it feel like there is some value in obtaining this equipment.

Yeah, and it's getting worse and worse. We're getting kicked out of layers and need to re-enter the numbers again due to lag way too often.

I opened a support ticket some week ago and no response yet. Now it's even worse than at the time of me reporting the issue.

Try to report the issue for your server as well via the support ticket system.

My intention was to provoke him a little into maybe sharing something from behind the scenes because I assume that, in some way, he must have at least some contact with the developers.

Are you nuts? What are you even talking about? Apart from the CoMa, no one has contact with the developers - and certainly not volunteer staff.

You keep repeating things you're completely clueless about. Game and forum staff are our clan mates, our game opponents, players just like you and me... and they have no insight into Gameforge's business, coding, or internal processes anymore than you or me and they have all the right to discuss game on a equal terms as you without having someone on their backs solely because they volunteered to help.

GO – SGO – GA – (TM) – CoMa (Gameforge) – and then all the rest (marketing, management, programmers...). So what exactly do you expect some GO or SGO to tell you about Gameforge's internal matters?

Those people take a lot of shit from people like you, they're punching bags for Gameforge-related issues all the time, while they're just volunteers trying to help.

What's so hard to understand? Everyone who posted in this thread did so as a player, not as forum or game staff. As if some game volunteer from who‑knows‑which BiteFight community (Portugal - my guess, since that's also the name of a very cool music group from Lisbon) has anything to do with Gameforge's coders, their algorithms, or anything else behind the scenes.

He's in the same boat as the rest of us players and is just trying to figure out the battle system like everyone else. Attacking him and repeating his staff title over and over is rude and completely unreasonable. "I'm just wondering why the Super Game Operator is taking part in this conversation..." is plain rude and disrespectful. He discuss game here as a player.

Instead of realizing this and apologizing, you keep pushing your ego even further, looking for confrontation like a spoiled child who needs to have the last word.

Oh, and by the way, while you're calling me out regarding helping players, that's what I spend most of my time doing on this forum, while I've never seen you... so forgive me if I don't take lectures on community involvement from someone I barely see around here.

My point was that when someone with an official staff title participates in a discussion about game mechanics, their words naturally carry more weight than those of a regular player.

TanarisJupiter, I have no idea what you're rambling about right now, but please just cut the crap. Before your "I’m just wondering why the Super Game Operator is taking part in this conversation..." hysterical rant, this was a nice discussion between players, just players, about Ancestral ruins combinations.

Volunteer forum and game staff are BF gamers as well, and they have every right to participate in our discussions as players without having some clueless, off-topic lunatic on their backs.

I understand that you may be new to all this and don't know how things related to game staff work and that in this specific thread was nothing "offical" about, just from one player to another, but come on... You're not helpful, you're not useful, and you're completely off-topic.

I won't engage with you anymore, but if you continue dragging this off-topic rant further, I will simply press the "Report Content" button because you're being offtopic and disruptive... and sadly, I am now as well.

I’m just wondering why the Super Game Operator is taking part in this conversation instead of giving us real explanations of the mechanics. Do you take us for fools, dangling a carrot in front of us without saying what specific stick it is hanging from?

Oh boy, you embarrassed yourself badly.

SGO is part of the community, a volunteer, not a Gameforge employee or, even less, a developer. Bitefight volunteer staff are often players just like you and me. They don't have some magic wand that would tell them coding algorithms, etc., any more than you, so why do you even bring up his position? It's a nice, informative discussion among players.

What you did here wasn't a cool thing to do.

I agree with you; I had the same problem.

Server? Always mention the server/community :)

You must open a ticket to the UK support, so they can check it.

Yeah, I did it, but I assume that with so many players farming lower layers on an hourly basis, we're simply hammering the servers that processes those battles, and the issue may be wider.

Or the opposite - it's because of s48 UK activity - there are like 40 players who farm lower layers hourly, process those actions simultaneously, which is today above the average BF server, I guess.

    diabla2  Mika s48 UK

Processing Ancestral Ruins attack calculations has been awfully slow the last few days and it's getting worse.

I am not talking about the game webpage itself - it's snappy as always - but when a player enters unit numbers and clicks "start", things start rolling and rolling... it's terrible on moments.

Sometimes it doesn't even process the calculation and the browser returns the player back to the unit entry point to re-enter the units again.

    • It's not browser-related (tested Chromium and Gecko-based browsers)
    • It's not OS or computer-related (tested)
    • It's not ISP-related (tested)

Before this report, several players from s48 UK confirmed it.

If you enter unit numbers once, it may look fine. But try to finish at least the first 10 layers (or, God forbid, a bit higher 10 - 20 layers that require more units to fight) and you will see how damn frustrating the thing becomes.
